Three Jewels Vancouver wants to
help maintain KDOL Mt. Tuam Retreat Centre
help others get into Retreat!

What is the Great Pledge?
An inovative fundraiser to assist others get into retreat and to help maintain a beautiful retreat centre.  The great pledge is similar to a walk-a-thon where one pledges donations to a person who is walking a certain amount of kilometres or miles; instead of walking we are meditating - for 24 hours! A meditation-a-thon!

The Great Pledge is a series of meditations that total 24-hrs over three days (Jan 29, Feb 26 & Mar 26). Meditators will choose to do the full 24 hours or select a customized package between now and March 26, 2017. The practice is shamatha-based and will be held at Open Door Group in Vancouver or remotely in your community or home. As a meditator/participant you have the choice of meditating for a shorter amount of time, depending on your experience and availability. As a meditator/participant you will raise a pledge amount for the meditation hours you have completed receiving donations from your family and friends.
The intent of the fundraiser is two-fold:
  1. To raise funds for to help maintain KDOL Mt. Tuam Retreat Centre on Salt Spring Island
  2. To raise funds to help others get into retreat (for example Doug Veenhof's month long 2017 retreat or Swami Muktibodhananda's retreat in the summer of 2017 or a solitary silent retreat)
100% of the funds raised will be split accordingly:
  1. 50% to a 3JV Sponsored retreat or Someone else's Retreat
  2. 50% to KDOL Salt Spring Retreat Centre Fund
For this Great Pledge, we would like to raise over $21,000 to cover:
  • KDOL Retreat Centre's infastructure costs for running a retreat centre (a generator, fixing a leaking porch)
  • To help cover the costs of getting others into a retreat
